Temonat -temozolomide
Temonat contains temozolomide and belongs to a class of drugs known as imidazotetrazine derivatives.
Indication
Temonat is used for the treatment of certain types of brain cancers (e. G. , refractory anaplastic astrocytoma).
Mechanism of action
Temonat slows or stops the growth and spread of cancer cells in your body.
Supplied as
Temonat is available as 20mg, 100mg & 250mg capsules.
Dosage
The recommended dose of temonat is usually once daily for 5 days. The treatment may be repeated every 28 days.
Overdose
Symptoms of overdose associated with temonat may include chills, persistent sore throat or persistent fever; or severe bleeding or bruising.
Precautions & Warnings
Temonat should not be taken without consulting your doctor if you have kidney disease, liver disease, blood disorders such as low white blood cell counts or low blood platelet levels, allergies (especially to dacarbazine). Temonat may lower the body's ability to fight an infection.
Do not take temonat if you are allergic to it or to any ingredient in temonat and to dacarbazine.
Do not take temonat without consulting your doctor if you are pregnant.
Drug interactions
the following drugs may interact with temonat:
the risk of severe infection may be increased by corticosteroids (e. G. , prednisone)
the risk of temonat 's side effects may be increased by valproic acid
Side effects
The side effects associated with temonat are severe allergic reactions chest pain, confusion, depression, difficulty swallowing, increased or painful urination, fever, chills, or sore throat, memory loss, muscle pain or weakness, numbness and tingling, pain, irritation, itching, paralysis, persistent cough, red, swollen, peeling, or blistered skin, seizures, severe or persistent headache, nausea, or vomiting, severe tiredness or vision changes (e. G. , blurred vision, double vision), anxiety, back pain, breast pain, constipation.
Note:
Temonat is a prescription drug and should be used under proper medical guidance and advice. Do not share the medicine with others, since they may be suffering from a problem that is not effectively treated by this drug.
