Product Description

PEMNAT :

Pemnat-pemetrexed
Pemnat contains pemetrexed and belongs to a class of medications called antifolate antineoplastic agents.


Indication
pemnat may also be used for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (nslc).
pemnat is used with cisplatin for the treatment of malignant pleural mesothelioma (a type of cancer that affects the inside lining of the chest cavity) who cannot be treated with surgery.


Mechanism of action
pemnat interferes with the growth of cancer cells and slows their growth and spread in the body.


Supplied as
pemnat is available as 100mg, 500mg single dose vial.


Overdose
symptoms of overdose associated with pemnat may include rash, flu symptoms, sores and/or redness in the mouth or throat or on the lips, unusual bleeding or bruising, sore throat, fever, chills, cough or other signs of infection, extreme tiredness, weakness, pale skin, body ache, dizziness, confusion, fast heartbeat, difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, severe diarrhea.


Precautions & Warnings
pemnat should not be taken without consulting your doctor if you have kidney disease, liver disease, bone marrow suppression, a weak immune system, excess fluid in the space around your lung, liver, or other internal organs, including pleural effusion (fluid around the lungs) or ascites (fluid around the liver).you will have to take folic acid and vitamin b-12 during your treatment with pemnat to protect your stomach, blood cells, and bone marrow from the side effects of pemnat. You will need to start taking them a week before receiving your first pemnat infusion, and will keep taking them for 3 weeks after your treatment ends.

Do not take pemnat if you are allergic to it or to any ingredient in pemnat. Pemnat may cause allergic reactions such as hives, difficulty breathing, and swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Do not take pemnat without consulting your doctor if you are pregnant. Discuss with your doctor the appropriate use of birth control during treatment with pemnat. It is not known whether pemnat passes into breast milk. Do not take pemnat without first talking to your doctor if you are breast feeding a baby.


Drug Interactions
The following drugs may interact with pemnat:

Probenecid
Insaid (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) such as ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac, diflunisal, etodolac, flurbiprofen, indomethacin, ketoprofen, ketorolac, mefenamic acid, meloxicam, nabumetone, and piroxicam


Side effects

The side effects associated with pemnat are pale skin, fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms, chest pain, trouble breathing, swelling, rapid weight gain, skin rash, numbness or tingling, depressed mood, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, indigestion etc.



Note:
pemnat is a prescription drug and should be used under proper medical guidance and advice.

Pemnat will be invaluable to lung cancer patients in whom curative surgery may not help. It can be used to treat non-small cell lung cancer and certain types of malignant pleural mesothelioma (cancer affecting lining of lungs)
